Colour trends 2012
Bring an instant lift to a room with this lovely scheme of aqua and yellow  radiating  the feeling of sunny summer days into your home no matter what it’s like outside.  Bare wood furniture and a pale wood floor are a perfect natural contrast to the bright colours.

Paint, Turquoise blue, £27.50 for 2.5ltrs, The Little Greene Paint Company

Raspberry and clementine

Adding the clementine accent to this pink and white patterned bedroom gives it even more impact as well as a more contemporary edge. When using two bold shades like this in one scheme, keep the rest of the room pared back and simple.  White bamboo furniture adds subtle texture , as does the natural woven flooring.

Wallpaper, Ecuador in pink, £75.20 per roll per roll, cushions made up in Ecuador printed fabric in pink and orange, £80.52 per m; bedspread made up in Carole in pink, £73.51 per m, all the Avalon collection Thiabult. For similar flooring try Sisal Panama new Champagne in natural, £44 per sq m, Crucial Trading.

Adding zest

To bring the feel of spring into your home why not use 'Zesty shades of green  and orange.  As an alternative to patterned walls, make a feature of a window with full-length curtains in a citrine design. Paint the walls in a pale grey colour, such as The Little Greene Paint Company's French Grey, which is soft and subtle.
